I firmly believe that education is not just what you just learn, but in addition, is also the experiences you gain while you learn. Vivek College, my alma mater gifted me exactly this. The college grew into a safe place for me to express myself, challenge myself and understand my strengths. The teachers at Vivek were more like Gurus – always present to guide, correct, and educate. The education experience there enabled my self-worth and self-belief, which are key skill sets as one enters the job market.
Khalil Gibran on teaching said “The teacher who walks in the shadow of the temple, among his followers, gives not of his wisdom but rather of his faith and his lovingness. If he is indeed wise, he does not bid you enter the house of his wisdom, but rather leads you to the threshold of your own mind.”
Vivek College and my gurus embody the above quote, and I can truly say, that at Vivek I began to understand myself and what I was capable of. This helped me position myself for life and is a long-term debt I am happy to carry.
